Members of this program have the opportunity to earn money from their videos by splitting ad revenue with YouTube. The Partners Program was originally closed to those YouTube deemed worthy, but now content creators from 20 countries can join in.
YouTube is laying the foundation for becoming an even larger destination for consuming original content. Google has already shown it is willing to pay big bucks to secure the best talent, so sharing a bit more ad money around with regular people who are hoping to become a YouTube sensation is definitely not a problem.
In order to become a partner, you have to apply for the program and monetize one video. The videos have to be original and must not be made up of content you don’t own the rights to.
