From now until May 8th, T-Mobile is trying to encourage new and current customers to drop their old feature phone or smartphone and pick up “a new, super-fast T-Mobile 4G smartphone.”  It is worth noting that current customers must have elapsed at least 18 months on their current contract and are, therefore, eligible to sign a new two year contract.

If interested customers trade-in a functioning cell phone during this time period, then they will receive at least a guaranteed $50.  An Apple iPhone commands a trade-in value of $200, while BlackBerry, Android, Windows Phone, and Symbian will result in a $100 cashback offer.  Feature phones will net the guaranteed $50.  The point of this promotion is simply to put more customers on contracts with data plans built in.  The attractive cashback offer will help remove older, slower phones and provide users with better smartphones.

Here is a list of smartphones that can be purchased once the old phone is validated as working:

  • Nokia Lumia 710
  • Samsung Exhibit II 4G
  • Samsung Galaxy S Blaze 4G
  • T-Mobile myTouch 4G Slide
  • T-Mobile myTouch Q
  • T-Mobile myTouch T
  • BlackBerry Bold 9900 4G
  • LG DoublePlay
  • HTC Amaze 4G
  • HTC Sensation 4G
  • HTC One S
  • HTC Radar 4G

If you bring your old phone into a participating T-Mobile retail store, you will receive a prepaid shipping label and a box to ship your phone to The Wireless Source headquarters. If it is deemed acceptable, then the individual will receive a rebate card with the specified amount.
