With the popularity of tablets and ultrabooks today, Samsung has deemed it just about the right time to release a new external DVD writer specifically for tablets and ultrabooks. Hence, Samsung has outed the SE-218BB DVD/CD writer which according to Samsung happens to be the world’s thinnest external DVD writer to date. Said DVD writer sports a 14 mm thin body which is said to be 18% thinner and 8% lighter than standard DVD writers. The device can be connected to your tablet or ultrabooks via USB port. But perhaps what makes this DVD writer worthy of your bucks is the fact that it will work with your Mac, PC or any other devices with Android 3.1 or higher for its OS. The Samsung SE-218BB DVD/CD writer reads data on the following data media – 24X CD-ROM, 24X CD-RW, 8X DVD±R recording, 5X DVD-RAM recording, 6X DVD+R Dual Layer recording, 6X DVD-R Dual Layer recording, 8X DVD+RW recording and 6X DVD-RW recording. And before we forget the device is also said to be and eco-friendly product since it was made using lead-free soldering technology which eliminates harmful materials such as Pb, cd, cr+6, Hg, PBBs and PBDE. The SE-218BB DVD/CD writer is available now in the market and retails for $59.99.
