Toshiba has just bumped the storage capacities of its Canvio 3.0 external drives to as much as 1.5TB. There will be two of these drive available soon, namely – Canvio 3.0 and Canvio Basics 3.0.
The Toshiba Canvio 3.0 offers up to 1.5TB of storage and will also come with a new NTFS driver for Mac. With this driver you’ll be able to use the external drive between a Mac and Windows PC without the need for a special reader or reformatting the drive. The Canvio 3.0 also comes pre-loaded with software that lets you back-up and recover files, folders or the full system of the drive. It also features a unique internal shock sensor and ramp loading technology for safeguarding your date from accidents and drops.
The Canvio Basic 3.0 external drive on the other hand aside from being equipped with the same internal shock sensor and ramp loading technology is a pretty simple storage solution with no software setup needed to use it. It’s available with up to 1.5TB storage and supports USB 3.0 for fast transfer speeds.
The Toshiba Canvio 3.0 is available for $199.99 with the NTSF driver and 1.5TB capacity, $199.99 for the 1.9TB, $129.99 for the 750GB, and $129.99 for the 500GB models. The Canvio Basics 3.0 is priced as follow – $189.99 for the 1TB, $189.99 for the 1.0TB, $139.99 for the 750GB and $109.99 for the 500GB. Availability of all these external drives is sometime in June 2012.
