Quiet honestly, among the proprietary apps that Samsung puts as default on its smartphones, ChatON is one of those that I never got to use. For those who are unaware, ChatON is a messaging service that works across various devices including Bada, Android, iOS, and BlackBerry. Now, you can add Windows Phone to the list. While it works on various devices, I’m pretty sure, ChatON never really catches on in terms of usage base as compared with other messaging service such as BBM for BlackBerry. But still, Samsung just won’t give up on ChatON and has now added a version for Windows Phone handsets, despite the scarcity of Samsung units for such platform. Still for those who own Windows Phone and are looking for a messaging app, Samsung ChatON may be worth checking out. It’s available now as a free download from the Windows Marketplace. And the app has features such as:

  • Profile page
  • Animated messages (via drawing)
  • Location info
  • Calendar
  • Multimedia sharing (and storage)
  • Group chat
  • Interaction Rank
