MetroPCS has officially released their latest 4G LTE smartphone, which also happens to be the first 4G LTE smartphone from Huawei (to come available in the US). The handset is the Activa 4G and it has landed with a rather affordable price tag — $149. But just to clarify, that $149 price comes after a $50 mail-in rebate which means you should be prepared to shell out $199 on the day of purchase. Still, judging from the specs and the price, it looks like pre-paid smartphone users now have another viable option to consider.
The Huawei Activa 4G is an Android smartphone, more specifically, an Android smartphone running 2.3 Gingerbread. Other features include 4G LTE (and 3G) connectivity, a 3.5-inch HVGA touchscreen display, 800MHz processor, 151MB of internal storage, a microSD card slot, 1880 mAh battery, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, VGA quality front-facing camera and a 5 megapixel rear-facing camera with an LED flash.
Otherwise, the Activa 4G will ship with a 4GB microSD card included in the box. And for those who happen to be into King Fu Panda, the memory card will have will have Kung Fu Panda 2 pre-loaded for your enjoyment. Bottom line, this is certainly not the highest spec’d Android device on the market right now, but at the same time — it is sometimes hard to argue with affordability and a $149 purchase price seems pretty fair. Especially considering the absence of any long-term commitment.
