First unveiled during CES in January, the Acer Aspire S5 is just making its way into the US market and will be available for sale sometime this month. The ultra thin laptop now carries a $1,400 price tag. For that price you’ll get a pretty powerful machine with a thin form factor loaded with a Core i7 Ivy Bridge processor and 256GB SSD under its hood. The Aspire S5 boasts of HDMI, USB 3.0 and Thunderbolt ports. Thin as it is, said laptop is also lighter. In fact, it is lighter than most laptops of its size (a 13-inch screen display). It weighs a mere 2.65 pounds and has a screen resolution of 1466 x 768. Another special feature of the Acer Aspire S5 Ultrabook is the fact that it’s embedded with the free AcerCloud service. This allows you to back up your stuff into the cloud and access it via an Android app residing on your Android phone or tablet.
In a related news, Acer will also be rolling out the refreshed version of its previously released Acer Aspire S3 Ultrabook. This time around, the machine will have a 3rd generation Intel Core i7 processor and 256GB SSD. It will also be available in the new champagne color and will get a new price of $648, which will make it one of the cheapest ultrabooks on the market today.
