Verizon Wireless has confirmed the the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update for the Droid RAZR and the Droid RAZR MAXX will begin rolling out as of today, June 22nd. And in addition, this update will also bring these two handsets to Global Ready status which brings the potential of having data service in more than 220 countries around the world. The Global Ready bit aside though, lets shift back to the ICS part of the update.

Verizon noted that this update will bring the new features and functionality such as Face Unlock and the Direct Access Lock Screen which allows you to open directly to the camera, text message or dialer. There will also be a new Video Calling icon which will allow for quicker access to video chatting services to include ooVoo and Tango. Otherwise, ICS also include the voice input which should be nice for those who prefer to dictate as opposed to type.

If you are sporting a Droid RAZR or Droid RAZR MAXX — you will most likely want to be on the lookout for the update notification. Of course, as with most updates of this nature, it will be rolling out on a gradual basis so it may take some time before it actually arrives for you.
