A couple of months after it was bought by Facebook, Instagram was finally given a fresh update. The app which is now at version 2.5, now has a new “Explore” tab that replaced the “Popular” section the previously displays photos with the most number of likes from Instagram users. Aside from showing the top-ranked photos under the said “Explore” tab, the app also now lets you search by username or hashtag. Hence, making it easier to look for pics with specific hashtags.

Another new feature of the app is the ability to post all the photo Likes you’ve made to your – yes, you guess it right, Facebook account. This means that those who manage a Facebook page can now post photos directly to their Facebook page without needing to leave Instagram. Additionally, the app also made it easier to access the Camera Roll. Previously, you have to tap on the camera button and then tap camera roll. Now, all you have to do is to tap and hold the camera button and you’ll be brought immediately to your phone’s camera roll to select the photos you’ve taken and that you want to post on Instagram.

Other new features of Instagram include – revamped profile tab, improved commenting feature, autocomplete user search, visual improvements and some speed optimization. Instagram is available now as a free download from the iTunes App Store. Hopefully, the update to the Android version is also forthcoming.
