Many of us have experienced the following scenario: You signed up for a service and created a username that seemed like a good idea at the time. However, you didn’t know that you’d be using that service for years. In the end you’ve found yourself stuck with a username like “supersmoothboy” even though you had become far more mature and professional. If this is how you feel about your YouTube account, now is your chance to change your username for the better.
YouTube now allows you to associate your Google+ account with your YouTube account. Since Google originally forced everyone to use their real name when Google+ launched, that’s the name that will be associated with your YouTube account.
You’ll also be given the chance to review your YouTube history and disassociate yourself from anything you’ve ever publicly posted. It’s like a brand new beginning.
YouTube is rolling this new feature out to existing users today. Once it reaches you, you will see the option to switch to your Google+ name whenever you choose to comment or upload a video.
