Chase bank is sending emails to its customers asking them to update the Chase Mobile Android app as soon as possible. It’s unusual for Chase to directly contact customers regarding app updates, but this particular update has the potential to prevent some Android users from accessing the app.
Once updated, the Chase Mobile app will no longer work on devices with operating systems prior to Android 2.1 (Eclair). Fortunately, less than 1% of Android devices are still running pre-Eclair software according to the Android developer’s dashboard.
Reviews on the update haven’t been positive. Users are saying they are asked to update the Chase Mobile app even if the update had already been completed. I recommend holding off on this update until another update is released to fix the login issues.
Note: The original article stated Chase Mobile would not support Android 2.1 Eclair. We corrected this to reflect only Android versions before Eclair are no longer supported.
