Rogers launches Sony Xperia Ion for $49.99 on a three year contract

As promised, Sony launched its high-end, LTE enabled Xperia Ion Android smartphone in Canada today.  Coming from Rogers, the Xperia Ion commands a $549 price tag if purchased off contract, but its three year subsidized price is an affordable $49.

In terms of specs, the Xperia Ion boasts a 4.6-inch HD Reality display, 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 12MP rear facing camera, 16GB of onboard memory, and runs Android 2.3 out of the box.  Sony announced there will be an Android 4.0 update slated for the Xperia Ion sometime in the near future.
