PayPal may have begun rolling out the Here credit card readers back in early-May, however it looks like now is the time when it will be available for any and all. Well, any and all in the US and Hong Kong anyway. The details are coming by way of the official PayPal Blog where they note that the Here card reader is now “generally available in the US and Hong Kong.” And just to clarify, this includes “most of 300,000 customers who signed up in these regions.” That being said, if you are not in that 300,000 and have been looking for an alternative to the Square or Intuit offerings, now seems like as good a time as any to check out the PayPal Here.

Otherwise, just to offer a quick recap on Here. This reader will allow you to accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover payments with a 2.7 percent transaction fee. In addition, those using the PayPal Here will also be able to accept payments from PayPal and by check using the camera on your smartphone. The Here also allows the user to charge multiple tax rates, automatically offer discounts and manage and view all of your transactions in one place.
