The last we hard heard from the folks at Pebble was back in mid-June when they opened up the voting for the Voter’s Choice Color. And well, they have since returned with another update (#17 for those keeping track) and they have announced the color. The color will be orange, which can be seen in the above image. Seeing this, it almost makes me wish that I shelled out the extra $10 to get a choice of color as opposed to black. But that bit aside, it looks like those who backed the project are not going to begin seeing their watches in September as was originally promised.
You see, in midst of offering the update on the color and showing off the images of the front bezel and insides (both of which you can see below) — they also confirmed a delay. Simply put, the Pebble will not be shipping in September and as of now another estimated time has not been given. Anyway, according to Pebble;
“While we won’t be able to start shipping Pebbles in September, our current schedule has us on track to go from manufacturing zero to 15,000 Pebbles per week as soon as possible.”
Needless to say, as a backer of this project I am disappointed. But on the flip side, given the success of the project, I cannot say that I am surprised and if nothing else, it is refreshing that they provided an update. Now lets just hope that the process goes smooth and we do actually see these watches soon after September. Or at the very least, before the end of the year.
