The boombox’s giant 4-inch speakers will give you a ton of sound. I was able to see it working at CES this year, and the sound will definitely fill a small room, or a large outdoor radius. Plus you’ll be able to carry it around by the handles, hanging from the shoulder strap, or you can hold it on your shoulder as you would an old-school boombox.

At $349.99 the Bag of Rhythm isn’t exactly inexpensive, but it seems to be worth the price. You get the huge portable sound with an internal battery or just plain batteries. Plus, it’s made of entirely recycled materials, so you get not just a great portable speaker, but one that’s environmentally friendly as well. Current orders will ship between February 15-18, so it misses the cutoff for an expensive, Valentine’s Day gift, but you’ll get it in time before and Spring adventures you might be planning.

Read [<a

There’s no photos of the new device, so all we know for now is that it’s also a Bluetooth speakers, and that it’s bigger than the original Jambox. We don’t even have measurements of the new device, we only know that it’s bigger because Jawbone filed is as “Big Jambox.”

The size could mean bigger drivers in the device, which could produce better sound. Or at least more sound. That’s really just speculation, though. We really don’t know much about this at all.

Read [<a

Now the Bag of Rhythm speakers are finally set to launch in the near future.

The Bag of Rhythm is probably more accurately described as a modern boom box that you can wear like a messenger bag. It has a place for your iPhone or iPod to make it easy to listen to your music, or you can connect via the auxiliary port. It’s a fairly powerful system with two 4.5-inch high-definition woofers and two 1-inch tweeters pumping out the sound. You can control the music through touch options on the device itself, or you can do everything but change the volume from your iPhone or iPod.

The only downside to the Bag of Rhythm is that is needs old-school D batteries (6 of them to be exact), though there is also an optional rechargeable battery pack. When you’re at home you can just plug it right into the wall so as not to use your precious battery life (it should also charge your iPhone or iPod when it’s plugged into a wall).

The Bag of Rhythm will be coming out within the next few months with a price point of $349.99. It’s a bit steep, but this is a powerful device that seems to be fairly unique in it’s concept.

CES 2012: House of Marley introduces Little Bird headphones which are great for kids

Audio

CES

Headphones

Portable Audio

Trade Shows

ces

ces 2012

ces2012

headphones

house of marley little bird

little bird
<guid

They’ll come in a variety of colors with the buds made of recycled plastic, and the tips made of eco-friendly material as well, called eco-foam. The photos show colored plastic, but it’s probable that they will ship with the same braided cords that are on the current line of earbuds.

<a

They also use eco-foam tips but they’re molded to fit in your ear as you’re running or working out where you have the possibility of the earbuds falling out. The design means there’s a chance for a wider variety of colors, which is cool. Like the Riffs, the Lively Ups aren’t going to be for audiophiles by any means, but they’re good looking, presumably decent sounding earbuds that are relatively inexpensive.

Both of these earbuds are currently under development, and should be out sometime this year.

CES 2012: House of Marley announces a range of portable speakers

Audio

CES

Headphones

Portable Audio

Speakers

Trade Shows

block party

ces

ces 2012

ces2012

djembe

house of marley

house of marley block party

house of marley djembe

house of marley nomad

nomad
<guid

There’s two Bluetooth stereo speakers and a smaller device that connect only via auxiliary.

The smaller speaker is the Djembe, a single speaker that does in it’s own carrying case that includes a carabiner so you can just clip it to your bag. While it is small and requires an auxiliary connection, that doesn’t mean it’s not powered. the Djembe has an internal battery that needs to be either connected to something via USB or powered four AAA batteries. It’s a neat little speaker, and one that can just be thrown into or attached to a bag so you always have a way to share your music with friends.

The other two speakers are the Block Party and the Nomad. Both are portable Bluetooth speaker sets that can also be plugged in a used inside. The Block Party looks almost like it’s the younger sibling to the Bag of Rhythm, with a similar bag style. The difference, of course, is that the Block Party doesn’t have an Apple 30-pin connection, it only has Bluetooth and auxiliary input. It is, however, also a very powerful system for it’s size. The Block party has two 3.5-inch high-definition woofers and two 1-inch tweeters which can produce a lot of sound.

The Nomad is interesting because it can easily be mistake for an iPad bag because it has a canvas flap that covers the speakers. Between the woofers and passive radiators there’s also a pocket that will fir your mobile device so you can make sure it’s never too far from the speaker. Removing the flap will obviously give you a better sound, but the flap can be used to make sure the speakers don’t get damaged at all when you’re use the Nomad someplace outside, say while camping or at the beach.

All three speakers are set to come out sometime in 2012, with prices ranging from $59.99 for the Djembe to $249.99 for the Block Party and $199.99 for the Nomad. <a

These two pairs have the Marley name attached to them, they are the Rhythm (pictured below) and Flight (above).

The Rhythm headphones are on-ear headphones with the earpieces entirely covered in canvas so they rest on your ear without looking like they should be over your ears. The headbands are also covered in canvas so you don’t have to see any of the aluminum and steel frame. The design is different from most other headphones, which makes them really stand out among the plethora of shiny metal and plastic headphones.

The Flight are also covered in canvas, though not in its entirety. As opposed to the Rhythm these are over-the-ear headphones that are very comfortable to wear. Out of all of the House of Marley headphones, these are probably the nicest looking headphones, even including the high-end TTR headphones. They might not sound as great, but at half the price, that shouldn’t be expected.

Both the Rhythm and Flight headphones are price at $149.99, and should launch sometime in the next few months.<a

The Monster Tron T1 headphones may not have his name attached to them, but Xzibit is the celebrity that’s spending his time hyping them up.

X-to-the-Z is working closely with Monster for all it’s gaming lineup (as part of the Monster Game brand), and the T1 headphones are just the first of that line. Xzibit claims there’ll be more to come by the end of 2012 including controllers and game-specific HDMI cables. Unfortunately those headphones have been delayed several times over as Monster has had to tweak the design quite a bit over the past year, the aesthetics are about the same, however.

With the T1 headphones the big deal is that it will give you more precise locations of sound. So, as Xzibit put it, you can hear when someone is to your right but above you compared to other headphones where you might just hear them to your right. It would theoretically give you an advantage in shooters like Modern Warfare 3 compared to someone who would be using Turtle Beach headphones, for example. Or, as Xzibit put it: “why be a Turtle when you can be a Monster?”

Of course, you can also use the T1 headphones for listening to music. They actually ship as standard headphones, and turn into gaming headphones with the additional Game Box mixer. The sound, from the few times I’ve listened to the headphones since they were announced, it pretty great even for music, plus they looks cool when they light up. Monster is only saying that the T1 headphones will be coming in the next few months, though Xzibit says they should be coming out around the end of February. That date could be subject to change, though.

CES 2012: Sharper Image makes a more affordable portable Bluetooth speaker

Audio

CES

Home Audio

Portable Audio

Speakers

Trade Shows

bluetooth

bluetooth speaker

ces

ces 2012

ces2012

sharper image

sharper image connect
<guid

But the Jambox is expensive, which is where the Sharper Image comes in with its version, the Connect.

The Connect Bluetooth Portable Speaker is the Jambox for those who can’t or just don’t want to spend $200 on a portable Bluetooth speakers. The Connect will cost you $50 as opposed to the Jambox’s $200. It doesn’t have all the design that the Jambox does, but it does have a few more buttons, which some people might want. It also has an integrated AC adapter so you can just plug the Connect into a wall socket to listen to music or talk on the speaker phone without having to worry about the battery life.

The Connect looks like a great little device, and for the price you can’t really go wrong. Unless, of course, you save the money for a Jambox.
