href="http://www.technologytell.com/gadgets/90784/samsung-announces-the-galaxy-tab-2-7-0-with-ics/" target="_blank">Galaxy Tab 2 on Monday much to the surprise of everyone. It’s pretty much a mid-range tablet with a 1Ghz dual core processor and a single gig of RAM, but it will be rocking Ice Cream Sandwich right from the start. Samsung didn’t reveal pricing, but Sammy Hub managed to lock down pricing details in four Scandinavian countries. Assuming the currency conversion is somewhat accurate, we could be in for yet another overpriced tablet.

The Wi-Fi Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 will apparently cost 2,350 Danish kroner in Denmark. Google’s currency converter estimates that amount to be around $419. The 3G model is 3,995 Danish kroner, which translates to about $712. On the low end, the 3G Galaxy Tab 2 costs as low as $523 once currency is converted from Norwegian kroner to dollars.

I only hope official prices in the U.S. are nowhere close to these amounts. There’s no way Samsung can come into a post-Kindle Fire market and expect to sell a 7-inch tablet for more than $299. Ice Cream Sandwich is no reason to increase the price. Most people don’t even know what that is anyway.

Via [<a

The first new Chrome feature was being beta tested for a while, but it’s now available to everyone. The second addition improves security by warning you about suspicious executable and .msi files. Now when you type inside Chrome’s omnibox (basically the address bar) Chrome will start to pre-render the sites Google feels you will visit. For example, if you begin to type “recipes,” a URL for your favorite recipe site will pop up. Once you click on it, the page will load noticeably faster.

The security update makes sure executable files are on a whitelist determined by Google. If it isn’t, you’ll be warned before starting the download.

You can download the update at any time. Redbox has agreed to purchase assets from NCR Corporation. NCR Corporation specializes in operating a range of self-service kiosks including Blockbuster Express. <span

Redbox’s parent company Coinstar will be obligated to purchase products and services from NCR once the transaction is finalized during the third quarter of 2012.

The obvious question here is what will happen to the Blockbuster Express kiosks. We’ve asked the folks at Blockbuster that very question and will update you when we learn more.

Read [<a

We have to keep looking up whenever we do this because there’s always the risk of running into someone or something while our attention is diverted. That’s where a new app called Transparent Screen comes in. Transparent Screen uses the rear camera on an Android phone to provide a window into the real world while allowing you to use your phone as normal.

Transparent Screen is free, but there’s another version with no ads for $0.99. The app lets you adjust the transparency of your screen with a simple slider. You can also increase the screen’s resolution at will.

It may all sound like a sweet deal, but Transparent Screen needs a lot of resources to function. It’s a guaranteed battery eater. You may also experience problems with lag even if you’re using a fairly modern phone.

It’s worth checking out just to see how well the app works for you. Use it sparingly though.

Download Link [<a
