CTA officially announced the 2Go PC back in early April and just now the first pre-order options are beginning to surface. Intel’s Smartbook, formerly know as the Netbook, Eco PC, 2go PC

With all these names, it seems that Intel’s latest offering is similar to the Everex Cloudbook, which has had multiple variations (and names) depending on where in the world it was being released. The latest info on the Intel ultra-portable is that it is being called the Smartbook. Of course this comes just a short while after we saw those official looking press style pics and spec sheet for the 2go PC, which was a nice follow up to those cell phone style images that we saw of the Netbook (aka: Eco PC) a few weeks back.

Intel’s 2go PC; formerly know as the Netbook

It was just a few weeks back that we first saw those cell phone style pics show up, only to quickly be followed up with a much cleaner looking set, based on that it seemed only a matter of time before more information came out. This time its in the form of a spec sheet and a few press style pics. The Intel Netbook 2go PC will be manufactured by Computer Technology Link (CTI) and seems to be aimed primarily at the education and classroom market although with the featured specs it should hold its own against with the recent ultra-portable craze.

The 2go PC will be running on an Intel Celeron M processor with the 915GMS chipset and come with Windows XP or Linux. The 2go PC will feature a 9-inch display with an 800 x 480 resolution, 512MB of RAM standard with support up to 1GB, a 4200 RPM 40GB hard drive, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g, SD/MMC card reader and a built-in webcam.

Although an official price and release date has not yet been announced, rumor has it that it should be available in less than 60 days and retailing for around $400. Keep reading for a few more pics of the 2go PC…
