Get surround sound without wires
Jumping on the wireless bandwagon at CES, Acoustic Research announced their new Modular Wireless Speaker Conversion line. These modules allow you to turn any 5.1 or smaller speaker system into a wireless application. To solve the common problem with wireless speakers where the signal bounces off of objects in the room creating a lag in one or more speakers, Audiovox has developed what it calls “Diversity antennas” which uses error correction to ensure interference doesn’t disrupt the signals. Each of the six channels provides 16 bit audio at 60 digital watts.
Audiovox offers the Advent Quick Connect entertainment system for your car
Looking for a system to entertain your kids while on a long road trip to the countryside? Yeah, I know they can always bring their PSPs and Nintendo DS Lites but playing video games while on the road might make them feel dizzy at some point. A good movie would be a great alternative and if you’re on the look out for a nifty DVD player that you can easily install on your car’s rear seat head rest, the Advent Quick Connect could be a good choice.
HD video through your house’s electrical
As more and more people get HDTVs, the TVs themselves get thinner and thinner, making them easier to hang on walls. However, hanging an LCD or plasma HDTV on the wall can be quite annoying when trying to connect any sort of media player to it. It requires an extra stand, or a shelf, or something near the TV to connect them. It can be a bit of a pain and can be annoying to look at with all those wires running to the TV.
Audiovox showed off its solution to the eyesore of all those cables with the Acoustic Research HDP100 HD Powerlink System at CES 2009.
Wi-Fi radios from Acoustic Research
Acoustic Research has just announced two new Internet radios that will have plenty of unique features without the hassle of a PC tether. The two models, the AR Infinite Radio 200 and 600i will both have Wi-Fi connectivity, AM/FM radio stations, and 512MB storage memory.
Without the need to directly connect to the Internet, users can now bring online radio to other areas of the home. However, you can still use the USB and Ethernet connections if Wi-Fi is not available. Listeners can customize their stations with the Infinite Radio as well as save favorite URLs through the Personal Portal Feature.
