Starz will release an app akin to HBO Go

A couple months ago, Starz announced it will not renew its content licensing agreement with Netflix when the current deal expires at the end of February in 2012. Netflix didn’t want to continue offering its content to Netflix subscribers at the standard Netflix monthly price. Starz wanted its content to cost a little extra. Netflix put a spin on the subject by making it seem like its customers wouldn’t really miss Starz anyway. Starz is moving on in a way that could change the way content providers view customers that have decided to cut the cord.

Iris is, but isn’t Android’s Siri

Voice controls in Android smartphones are not new. Google implemented voice controls into Android a long time ago and there are third-party applications that take advantage of this feature quite well. But ever since Siri came around, it has created this strange new urge to talk to your phone. The reason why Siri is so popular isn’t because it’s comprised of new technology. Siri is popular because it has a personality. You can have fun with Siri while constantly saying “I can’t believe she said that!” to yourself. There isn’t something quite like Siri on Android, but Dexetra is working on it with its new app called Iris.

Bobsled by T-Mobile has shown up for another moment in the spotlight. Originally released on Facebook, Bobsled was created to give Facebook users the ability to call any of their FB friends through the website for free. Facebook had issues with the way Bobsled presented itself and requested it be redesigned. Bobsled did just that, but it’s a little less useful now that Facebook has integrated Skype. Bobsled is now taking its service to iOS and Android devices while adding new functionality to its web application.
