Deutsche Telekom details what T-Mobile will get from the failed AT&T merger

AT&T and T-Mobile USA announced the end of their proposed merger on Monday. The opposition raised by the United States government, rival carriers and advocacy groups proved too much for the two companies to push through. As a result of the failed deal, AT&T has to give T-Mobile parent company Deutsche Telekom $3 billion in cash and $1 billion in Advanced Wireless Solutions spectrum. AT&T also mentioned a “mutually beneficial” roaming agreement yesterday which we now know will last seven years.

FCC leaks T-Mobile’s 3G-capable Sony Ericsson TM506

Even after all the Sony Ericsson handsets that were recently launched, they still have some in the works. Thanks to a recent FCC listing, we now have at least some of the details on a new clamshell style 3G-capable handset that will be heading to T-Mobile, the TM506.

Typical with the FCC leaks, all of the details have not been given, in this case it was notably the camera specs that were left to remain a mystery, but aside from that we are quite pleased with what was revealed.

The TM506 offers tri-band GSM (850/1800/1900MHz) support as well as being capable of taking advantage of T-Mobile’s AWS (1700MHz) 3G network. Other features include a built-in GPS receiver, Bluetooth, a Memory Stick Micro (M2) card slot and an (albeit small) external display.

While the pricing and availability have not been released it is expected to be available shortly. Lets just hope they release it in a few more color varieties aside from the pictured green, because that is sure to be a color that is either loved or hated. Keep reading for a few more images of the TM506…

Designed specifically for the new AWS spectrum band, both phones however can still operate on PCS and cellular bands. Hence, making them work in all Cricket wireless markets. Cricket’s introduction of the two Samsung mobile phones earns the company the bragging rights of being the first to release the CDMA AWS devices to the mobile phone market.

Aside from being CDMA AWS handsets both the Samsung Spex and MyShot boast of distinct features that sets each other apart. The Samsung Spex is a slim and sleek mobile handset that offers an easy-to-use interface. Its features include Bluetooth, color display, speakerphone and personal tools (calendar, memo pad and more). In addition, the Spex also supports Cricket’s mobile services such as text messaging, mobile web, Cricket games and apps.
