Spotify may have accidentally violated your music privacy

Spotify was recently rid of a bug that kept users signed in to Facebook even after they chose to disconnect their Facebook accounts from Spotify. Even though Spotify users may not have noticed, the music they were listening to may have been posted in the Facebook live News Ticker without their permission. This kind of oversight does not bode well for Facebook’s idea of frictionless sharing which automatically posts what a person is listening to or reading on Facebook at all times. Privacy groups are already skeptical about how easy it is for Facebook user data to be made public, and this situation won’t help to win them over.

Dropbox bug left accounts unprotected for nearly four hours

Dropbox had a bit of an issue on June 19. The cloud storage service updated its service’s code on that day which ultimately left every account open to intrusion for around four hours. Dropbox says that the code was applied at 1:54pm, but the bug wasn’t identified until 5:41pm. To its credit, Dropbox fixed everything by 5:46, but not before some accounts were potentially compromised.

Text messages from the year 2016?

There have been several reports about people receiving their new year greetings text messages from the year 2016. Apparently, messages received after 1/1/2010 are being displayed as coming from the year 2016. Hands on Bug Labs’ BUGmodules

Bug Labs was at ShowStoppers in Las Vegas tonight showing off their new BUGmodules for their BUGbase. They introduced a new pico projector module, a QWERTY keyboard, a 3G module, Bluetooth/Wi-Fi module, and an audio module with multiple lines in and lines out.

Bug Labs introduced their BUGbase last year at CES. This device lets you play with pre-fabricated components to build your own gadget. Alicia Gibb, Gadget Wrangler, gave a great example of a person who created a GPS alarm clock.
