Google adds new unemployement feature to search
If you are moving in the United States, it is advisable to settle in a state where the unemployment rate is relatively low. Unfortunately, such precise information is hard to come by, but today, Google has announced a new feature that aims to consolidate all this information. Enter unemployment rate in Google’s Public Data service.
Basically, begin by searching for “Unemployment rate in New York,” or even a specific city or county. After entering in that information, a neat graph will be displayed along with the unemployment rate. If you decide to click through, you can even compare it with either the national rate, or that of another area.
HTC Census makes FCC appearance; features biometric technology
Another recent FCC discovery is showing off a new mobile handset coming from HTC, dubbed the Census. The FCC document, unfortunately did not reveal many details about the Census, and we can mostly just make assumptions about its features based on what we see from the accompanying picture. Based on the image, the Census appears to have a fingerprint reader and bears a logo for the wireless technology company Harris. Likewise, the handset seems to have a touch-sensitive display as no keyboard can be seen, and the keypad is also not a standard numeric style.
US Census Bureau to ditch handhelds for 2010 census
The Census Bureau will not be going as high-tech in 2010 as originally planned, instead holding firm to the good old fashion pen and paper method.
