More bad news has struck Blockbuster. Dish Network, the chain’s new owner, will be closing 200 additional stores. According to The Wrap, the closures will leave close to 1,500 Blockbuster stores still standing.

It was revealed yesterday that Borders will be closing soon. As soon as this Friday, many of its locations around the United States may begin liquidation sales. Though Borders failed to make a noticeable impression in the eBook market, it does own a minority stake in Kobo. Kobo wants its customers to know that despite Borders, their book purchases on Kobo devices aren’t in any danger.

The journey is over for Borders. The company failed to find a buyer and will cease to exist in about two month’s time. All of Borders’ 399 stores will close down. Waldenbooks locations are also expected to close. Liquidation for Borders stores could begin as early as Friday.
