Google adds Honeycomb statue to the ever-growing collection of lawn statues
Just in case we needed another thing to tell us that Android 3.0 was official, the crew at Google has added the Honeycomb statue to the lawn on the Google campus. That said, the Honeycomb statue, which represents Android 3.0 joins the previously existing lineup of the Android robot along with Cupcake, Donut, Eclair, Froyo more »
Gingerbread man arrives on the Google campus lawn, he joins the Cupcake, Donut, Eclair & Froyo
It seems to have become a tradition on the Google Campus — bring out a rather large statue that shows off the flavor of desert that is Android. In the past we have seen a Cupcake, a Donut, an Eclair and a cup of frozen yogurt (Froyo) and now they have added a Gingerbread man. more »

It looks like Google has released the latest breakdown in terms of market share of the various versions of Android. And coming as little surprise, Android 2.2 has been growing. The most recent numbers are showing Android 2.2 Froyo with a nice 33.4%. Of course, that is still under the current 40.4% for Android 2.1. more »

G1 users to receive Android 1.5 update starting next week
A lot of news has been circulating about the update (a.k.a. Cupcake) to the Android OS, which the T-Mobile G1 runs on, and it is ready for showtime. Word has just been announced from T-Mobile that the G1 will begin receiving the over-the-air update starting at the end of next week.
Since many people own the G1 in the United States, it will take the rest of May for all users to receive the update, so don’t get frustrated and begin calling customer support if your update takes longer than expected. With the new update comes a lot of improvements and features, here are some that caught my eye.
OMG: Cupcake to kill Android OS?
This is not inspiring news. It seems, at least according to Big in Japan developer, Alexander Muse, the cupcake 1.5 update may break many third party applications. The update is supposed to go live in Spain tomorrow, leaving developers to scramble to come up with a solution. For a phone that has sold over a more »

Vodafone and HTC make Magic together
It seems as though HTC has been busy. Two phones released just yesterday, the Diamond2 and the Touch Pro2. Now, they’ve made magic.
At the GSMA 2009 show in Barcelona, HTC pulled a new rabbit out of their hat. Well, you might recognize the HTC Android phone as the G2, but the new pulled-out-of-a-hat-with-doves name for this is the Magic. The HTC Magic is exclusive to Vodafone in Europe right now, and there isn’t too much information leaking from the magician’s hat about it just yet.
What we do know about it is that it will feature HSPA, HSDPA/WCDMA (900/2100MHz), WiFi, and have GPS connectivity. There is also going to be a 3.2 mega-pixel camera (no flash), and what will make many happy — Cupcake will also be there. The Magic has a 3.2 inch HVGA touch screen along with a trackball navigator. However, kind of odd, it doesn’t have a slide out-QWERTY keyboard like the T-Mobile G1. With it, you’ll also have several email options (of course Gmail is one of them), as well as POP3 and IMAP accounts. Customers will be able to access the Android Market and download apps and games for their smartphone.
New T-Mobile G1 update rolling out this week
If you are a member of the T-Mobile network, you’ll be able to access a new update this week for your G1 phone. The G1 has been a hot seller for T-Mobile since its release. The G1 has features like real time web browsing, one touch Google search, access to a 3G network, music player, 3.2 megapixel camera, and more.
This new update, known as 1.1 RC33, is a regularly scheduled maintenance release and can be performed over the air. It is expected that within the next two weeks that all T-Mobile G1 customers will have downloaded this update onto their phone. This new firmware update will include new features and software, although the company has yet to disclose what exactly customers can expect from the release.
