Dell finally brings out Mac Mini competitor

With the release of Windows 7 and programs such as Boxee, having a computer as part of a home-theater set-up is becoming more and more reasonable. The issue has been that outside of nettops and the Mac mini, there haven’t been many options for what that computer should be. Sure, anything would work, but it’s more »

Acer releases the X3200 desktop plus a 24-inch LCD

Despite the growing popularity of netbooks and ultraportable PCs, at the end of the day we consumers still turn to our old, reliable, and trustworthy desktop PCs for our more sophisticated and power-hungry computing needs. Knowing this, Acer is not abandoning its desktop PC product line, despite the success of its Acer Aspire One. To address our power-hungry computer needs, the company is rolling out the new X3200 Phenom-powered desktop PC. And, what better way to appreciate this machine’s power, but to pair it up with a 24-inch LCD, right?

ASUS Eee All-In-One touch screen PC available for pre-order

Play.com has the Asus Eee All-in-One Touch Screen desktop PC available for pre-order in the United Kingdom at a bit under $700. The computer should be released on November 20th.

The cool part about the PC is its 15.6-inch touch screen. Any computer that adds another input option is all right in my book.

The desktop uses an Intel Atom processor which should mean this is a light duty machine that does not consume too much electricity. This PC seems to be for casual computing as it only comes with 160GB of hard drive space and 1GB of RAM. Find out more about Asus’s newest release after the break.

Asus officially announces the Eee Box

Asus has officially let the Eee Box out of the bag, an official press release has been posted on their website, and it gives most of the details. I say most, because in typical Asus fashion, the neglected to mention any release date or price. They were instead nice enough to give us a complete more »

Asus Eee Box specs, pricing leaked

So far we have seen a fair amount of leaks and rumors about the upcoming Eee Box, everything from specs to the rumored EBOX name. Well, the latest seems to be the complete and official specs along with just how much this little desktop PC is going to set you back.

The pricing, as one would expect will vary slightly depending on the hard drive and RAM options that you choose. A 80GB hard drive with 1GB of RAM and Linux will run you $269, however adding Windows XP to that will up the price by just $30 to $299. A 160GB hard drive with 2GB of RAM and Linux will also set you back $299, no mention was made of a similar spec’d model with Windows XP. The Eee Box will also not include any optical drive, most likely due to the overall small size, which measures in at 8.5-inches x 7-inches x 1-inch.

HP tries to bring the “top” back in desktop with Pavilion m9200t

Usually, when someone asks me what kind of computer would be a great buy, I’d just tell them to stay away from clunky desktops to make sure that they don’t get something that’s half-baked (a lot of desktop PCs are like that nowadays). Many desktop PCs are simply not worth the second look that they more »
