State Farm iPhone app judges your driving skills

Everyone does something while driving that may not be particularly safe. Sometimes we wait too long to start braking or make turns a little too tightly. Since we’re too set in our ways to readily identify what we’re doing wrong, State Farm has created an iPhone app to do that for us. Driver Feedback is a free app that hopes to make us all better drivers. After all, State Farm doesn’t want to insure a new generation accident prone drivers.

Text and drive in Connecticut and you could lose your license for a day [News I like to hear]

While I generally believe laws that are designed to protect us against our own stupidity are well, stupid, there are some exceptions to that rule. Take this for example, I live in Florida and that means (should I choose) I could ride a motorcycle without a helmet (as long as I have insurance) but yet more »

We see people doing it all the time. Texting or talking on the phone while driving in their car. The reality is, this is a very dangerous combination. When you play the game, you have to quickly navigate in between six toll booths by using your number keys, while at the same time occasionally responding to text messages.

Texting while driving worse than drunk driving?

Chances are most of us have probably experienced being in the car while the driver is texting or responding to an email. If you have yet to experience it, let me tell you it can lead to some scary moments. Now there’s a study that can help cement those fears and maybe convince some people more »

NYPD give out over 9,000 “driving while using a cell phone” tickets during one-day campaign

In an effort to drive home the point that you are not allowed to talk on a cell phone while driving in New York, the NYPD recently held a one-day event that gave tickets to 9,016 motorists. Not bad for a one day event, but this goes to show that many people simply are not more »

SayType lets you text without touching

We love to text. We love to email. We love to do this all the time, even when driving. A new company hopes we come to our senses and pay for their services to translate our voice to text. Am I the only one pessimistic about this?

The premise is somewhat simple: Sign up, phone the company, talk at the tone (120 seconds limit), then *poof* your message gets sent in the mode of your desire.

Now surely you noticed I wrote, “pay for their service.” Just how much? $14.95 per month for email OR for text.
