Sprint’s early termination fee is going way up

If you’re thinking about joining up with Sprint, you better be sure you’re willing to stick with the contract. An internal Sprint document has been leaked that states the fee for early terminations is going up on September 9. It’s not a modest increase either.

AT&T to double ETFs

AT&T Wireless customers beware. As of June 1st the company’s early termination fee for smartphones will rise to a whopping $325. That’s double the old rate of $175. The fee hike will only apply to smartphones like the iPhone, Blackberry, Palm and Windows Mobile devices. AT&T hasn’t given a reason for the hike but some more »

Sprint customers: If you canceled due to the regulatory rate increase, make sure you check your bill

I just wanted to offer a quick and friendly reminder to those that may have recently canceled their Sprint contract due to the regulatory rate increase. Verizon drops 10 phones from the $350 “Advanced Device” ETF list

We saw Verizon announce the increased ETF fees for “advanced” devices back in November and since then that has not only gone into effect, but also taken in question by the FCC. Reminder: You can now cancel your Sprint contract and not pay an ETF

As I mentioned back in December, Sprint has made a change to the contract terms and users should be able to cancel without having to pay an early termination fee. The change means that users, should they choose not to cancel, will have to pay an extra $0.20 cents per line. According to the details; more »

Verizon responds to FCC inquiry over ETFs

Verizon has responded to the FCC’s inquiry regarding their decision to double their ETF to a whopping $350 and their explanation has many shaking their heads in disbelief. Turns out that Verizon considers that fee to be covering just about every facet of their operation! “The ETF is not limited to the recovery of the more »

Sprint preparing to change their contract terms, may be a good time to cancel without paying an ETF

It looks like Sprint is preparing to make a change in their contract terms, and yes that means users will be able to (in theory) cancel their current contract without having to pay an early termination fee. Of course, I say “in theory” because your individual mileage may vary, as it usually does with these more »

Sprint: No plans to increase early termination fees

We have been seeing some talk about increasing Early Termination Fees (ETF’s), most recently from Verizon Wireless. With that and perhaps in an effort to get the word out, Sprint has come out and stated that they will not be increasing their ETF’s. The message came short and sweet via the official Sprint Twitter account. more »

Sprint catches up with the rest, announces pro-rated ETF’s

Sprint will finally be joining the likes of AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon with pro-rated early termination fees (EFTs). The final details have still not yet been announced, but according to Chief Executive Dan Hesse, customers may be seeing the pro-rated fees as early as December. Which means that customers who cancel their contract early will more »
