Apps we use: Quickoffice Pro for Android

I’m always looking for more ways to be productive in my writing when I’m away from my computer. I mostly used Google Docs because so much of my online life revolves around Google services. I wanted to find an alternative to Google Docs because the mobile app is nothing more than the mobile webpage. I also wanted something that allowed me to work offline. This caused me to keep my eyes open for a productivity app that would become my first choice for writing on the go.

YouTube turns boring 2D videos into 3D masterpieces

YouTube recently launched a new set of editing features that lets users stabilize, trim and add effects to their previously uploaded videos. On Wednesday, YouTube announced even more editing features for YouTube videos. One of the new features is a tool that converts 2D videos into 3D videos.

MAINGEAR announces availability of new Remix computers

You love working with Photoshop, graphic design, video production, pro audio, and other editing software, but doesn’t it seem to make your computer run slowly? As an amateur Photoshop user, whenever I try to edit a few pictures, my computer always runs slowly, because the program takes up a good amount of memory. MAINGEAR aims to provide the public with customized computers that specialize in editing software, called the Remix lineup.

The Remix lineup incorporates NVIDIA graphics, as well as NVIDIA CUDA plugin to encode H.264 videos up to 4x faster. With the use of NVIDIA graphics, the Remix computers are specially designed to work with Adobe CS4. For the Photoshop junkie, the computer allows you to rotate images, zoom, pan, and make changes all in real time, while running smoothly. Users have the ability to add graphics as well as creative visual effects to videos with ease by using Quadro CX. For the audio junkie, the Remix uses some of the most sophisticated interfaces such as M-Audio to edit songs to the fullest.

HD-capable Flip Mino Camcorder arrives just in time for the holidays

If the just released Flip Mino HD would be available in any of the local stores in the country where I’m currently residing, I would certainly not hesitate in getting this as a gift to myself. In fact, I might even get another one for my son. The Flip Mino may be so cool and attractive enough to get you to buy it even before you take a look at its specs. In fac,t you don’t have to worry about the specs, as you would certainly not be short changed in this department.

The Flip Mino HD is Pure Digital’s take on HD-capable camcorder market. And instead of clashing with the other HD-capable camcorders in coming out with their own units touting support for large-capacity storage SD cards, Pure Digital opted to use built-in 4GB flash memory only. For some camcorder users this would be enough for a one-hour video which they can easily upload to YouTube or other video sharing sites. Find out more after the break.

Gadgetell Review: Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2

Gadgetell Quick Review: Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2

What is it?

Lightroom 2 is a program for Windows and Mac OS X designed to help organize, streamline, and develop your photos. It costs $99 for the upgrade from Lightroom 1 or $299 for first time buyers.

Pros:

Easy to use thanks to clean and organized interface.Imports all of your files using your preexisting directory structure.Works with a wide variety of file formats.

Cons:

Does not allow pixel editing. Requires another program for that task.Initial use can be frustrating and can cause loss of work.

Does it hit the mark?

Yes. Lightroom 2 definitely lived up to all of my expectations. It’s easy to see that this program would be extremely popular with anyone working in the art or ad industry, or someone who does batch work with photos. The program allows for very controlled editing and is remarkably easy to use.
