Asus Eee PC 1201PN now available with Amazon, priced at $484
Another day and we have another Eee PC netbook come available. The latest model is now listed on Amazon.com and is the Eee PC 1201PN. Granted, this may be another Eee, but common name aside, given the NVIDIA Ion graphics support it should be a slightly more welcomed addition. Other features, aside from the NVIDIA more »
CES 2010: Hands on with the Asus Eee PC 1005P and 1005PE
Another netbook that I spent some time messing around with this morning was the Eee PC 1005P and the Eee PC 1005PE, both of which were on display in the Asus booth here at CES. Personally I have a preference for Eee’s, mainly because I have had a few different models since the Eee PC more »
Asus intro’s the “stylish” Eee PC 1002H
In somewhat of a non-announcement, Asus has introduced the latest in the ever-growing and ever-confusing Eee PC lineup by simply adding it to their website. This time, the model is the Eee PC 1002H and it is powered by the same 1.66GHz Intel Atom N280 processor that is in the recently announced 1000HE. Of course, more »
Asus notebooks, netbooks rumored to be headed to a Wal-Mart near you
The latest rumor surrounding Asus is calling for their notebook and netbook lineups to begin landing in Wal-Mart locations. This report comes as Asus is hoping to not only surpass the 650,000 notebooks (including netbooks) they sold in the US last year, but also break the one million mark. Of course, you can already grab an Eee PC from Target or Best Buy, however nothing really screams low-cost laptop like Wal-Mart.
New netbooks aimed at upscale crowd
The economic forecast continues to be stormy, but that hasn’t stopped netbook makers from rolling out a new generation of netbooks clearly aimed at an upscale crowd. The new Sony Vaio P will retail for a staggering $900. That’s right, a $900 netbook. Kind of defeats the purpose of netbooks, which were designed to be both ultra mobile and low cost. The new Asus EeePC T91 will start at $500, and the Dell Inspiron Mini will be available for $600.
The Asus model will offer a touch screen that swivels, allowing the device to be turned into a tablet PC, and a built in TV tuner, and both it and the Sony Vaio P offer built in GPS. The Dell Mini 12 offers a 12 inch screen, making it the largest netbook offered to date.
Intel shows its hand: we are netbooks
While most likely not their only game plan, Intel ponied up to the netbook game by buying netbook.com. By combining the grim economic outlook with one part of tech that continues to boom, Intel is hedging their bets that netbooks will continue to thrive, perhaps even more so in the run up to the holidays.
But what’s a netbook?
