Last week was not good for RIM. As the iPhone 4S was building up steam for its release, customers in India. Europe, the Middle East, the United States and Africa were unable to access crucial BlackBerry services. RIM finally fixed everything on October 13, but not before outages that lasted three days in some countries. RIM is apologizing to its BlackBerry users with apologetic words and free apps. Over the next four weeks (starting on October 19), apps that are worth over $100 combined will be free from BlackBerry App World. Customers can pick them up until December 31.

As promised, Rdio has finally released a free streaming option for its users. New Rdio users can sign up for the service by using either an email address or connecting their Facebook accounts.
