Congressman asks FTC to investigate Carrier IQ
Just one day after Sen. Al Franken asked Carrier IQ, mobile phone carriers and smartphone manufacturers to answer several questions regarding the purpose of Carrier IQ, another politician has stepped in to get the Federal Trade Commission involved. Congressman Edward J. Markey, who is also the co-chairman of the Congressional Bi-Partisan Privacy Caucus, sent a letter to the chairman of the FTC asking for an investigation into Carrier IQ’s software.
HTC wants to work out its legal woes with Apple
HTC and Apple are currently in a legal dispute. The International Trade Commission determined that HTC violated two of Apple’s patents. HTC is trying to overturn that preliminary decision based on evidence it claims to possess. Even Google said it will make sure HTC doesn’t lose this dispute. Even with all this going on, HTC is still willing to settle things with Apple amicably.
