It’s official, Verizon’s $199 BlackBerry Storm coming November 21

After plenty of rumors, hope and speculation, the official details for the BlackBerry Storm have been announced. The Storm will be priced at $199.99 after a $50 mail-in-rebate and along with a two-year agreement. As for availability, November 21 will be the day when it will be both online and in stores.

The Storm, as noted in the short and to the point, press release will be the “first touch screen BlackBerry smartphone with the world’s first “’clickable’ touch screen.” Which despite the price not coming in quite as low as we would have hoped for, (lower than the iPhone 3G) should still be low enough to sell more than a few.

A few interesting tidbits from the Verizon Wireless announcement show that the Storm will be running software version 4.7, that it will be shipping with an 8GB microSD card and also that it will be able to function as a wireless modem for your notebook. Of course, Verizon does not specify the extra cost for the tethering, simply stating that the Storm has “3G modem support.”

Video Review: BlackBerry Bold

Our friends over at ChannelFlip.com took a look at the BlackBerry Bold. If you’ve been living under a rock, the BlackBerry Bold is RIM’s newest full QWERTY keyboard smartphone. It is also known as “Not the Storm.” Is this the phone to knock out the iPhone? Take a look at the video after the break so you can see the BlackBerry Bold in action.

Gadgetell hands-on: Samsung Epix

Announced just Tuesday, the Samsung Epix is new on the AT&T network. The 3G phone appears to be the torch bearer for the BlackJack family as it continues on in the same tradition: a smartphone that gets the job done. I’ve had the phone for a few hours and have my initial impression to report. I’ll report back in an couple of weeks with an in-depth look.

In short, this is one good looking business phone. Its understated gray exterior screams, “I make way more than you think I do” and the classy chrome-like band around the phone is retained from the BlackJack 2. The phone feels good in the hand, not heavy but solid. I just feel more important using it.

Hit the jump to see what else I found to like in this phone.

Would you like to buy the Motorola AURA or about 10 iPhones?

Better start writing to Santa folks because this one doesn’t come cheap. Introduced on Tuesday, Motorola’s new AURA might even make Hugh proud.

It sports the “world’s first circular display” and certainly doesn’t lack colors, it has 16 million of them with a 300 dpi resolution. That cyclops display is covered with Grade 1, 62-carat sapphire crystal lens. What does that mean to you? The lens is made of one of the most scratch resistant materials on the earth.

T-Mobile releases BlackBerry’s first flip phone; the Pearl Flip 8220

Finally, BlackBerry’s first flip phone, dubbed BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220, was released exclusively by T-Mobile USA. BlackBerry Pearl users who would opt to upgrade to this new BlackBerry phone might find it similar to the original BlackBerry Pearl. With a new distinguishing feature, of course, that this one is a flip phone. Aside from being a flip phone, the BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220 also features some great smartphone functionality.

Those who have used a BlackBerry handsets before know that one of the strengths of BlackBerry smartphones is their integration with enterprise email solution. More after the break.

Sony Ericsson goes spy-tech in “James Bond Quantum of Solace”

Talk about ideal product placement gone mad. In the upcoming James Bond Quantum of Solace movie, there are eight different characters sporting six different Ericsson phones. And nope, they don’t even have to tape over the brand name….I’m sure Sony paid plenty to be the featured phone of choice.

The six featured phones somehow also magically include the canceled Ericsson W707. The new character Elvis has that one. Bond himself sports the C902 (in the limited Titanium Silver color of course). The Bond girl uses the W350 in Graphic White color; for anyone wanting to be just like the love of Bond’s life remember Graphic White. As for the rest of the characters, we have M catching calls with the G700 (in Mineral Grey), Matthus using the G700, CIA with the W910, and another new character, Green, pockets the G900.

What goodies come with Bond’s phone? Find out after the break.

Nokia takes the limelight with its Comes with Music service and 5800 XpressMusic phone

Nokia has taken the mobile world’s centerstage today with the slew of announcements it made during the Nokia Remix event which happened simultaneously in London and Singapore. An enhanced S60 mobile platform, an online music store a la iTunes and, of course, a new music phone with touchscreen features, a la, well what else, but the iPhone.

The enhanced S60 Mobile Platform

Nokia’s S60 mobile platform which runs on Symbian OS finally gets a much needed upgrade in its 5th iteration. Key features of this fifth edition S60 is none other than touch UI and support for tactile feedback. This simply means that Nokia mobile phones using the S60 OS will now have touchscreen features similar to the iPhone.

Likewise, the S60 is also bringing enhanced web browsing capabilities to the soon to be released S60 mobile phone. This is made possible through Adobe Flash Lite 3 support. More details after the break.

T-Mobile G1 official user manual hits the web

Just for those people who still have not gotten enough information about the soon-to-be-released T-Mobile G1, there has been some more information recently released. This time it is in the form of the official G1 user manual, and its a nice 48 pages in total. This should hopefully help fill some time until the official release, of course in actuality we know that most people rarely read these and even if you did it may just serve as a teaser.
