Microsoft reacts to Google’s privacy changes by reminding us of its products
You may remember that Google recently changed its privacy policy, saying that it will now track users across all of its products instead of keeping individual data sets for each one. Understandably some people might be upset, and Microsoft wants to remind those people of the products it has that compete with Google. Specifically, Microsoft more »

Hotmail app now available for Android
We are not entirely certain how many in the Gadgetell audience actually still use Hotmail for your email needs but that being said, it looks like Microsoft has released an Android app — just in case. Hotmail will make users create stronger passwords
Over the past month or so, we’ve been bombarded with stories of hackers accessing databases and releasing personal information all over the web. Even if copious amounts of data aren’t bundled together and placed in a text document, there is still the threat of unauthorized access to email accounts. There are ways to make your email account more secure using methods such as Gmail’s 2-step verification process, but it isn’t mandatory. Hotmail has developed a new feature to aid in the battle against email hacking.

Gmail pushes to number three in email, kicks AOL mail down
Despite its apparent popularity, Google’s Gmail surprisingly still isn’t the top email service out there. See if someone has read the e-mail you sent with the new BigString app
“What email? I didn’t get any email?” Have you ever been fed that line and wonder if the person is telling the truth? Expect for that to all change now that the BigString Corporation has launched their universal e-mail tracking service.
Live.com goes social
Microsoft just announced that they are giving Windows Live a major face lift. They plan to debut a whole bunch of new beta Windows Live features to help users combine all parts of their online life. These features are not going to just be Microsoft services either. But they will all be under the Windows Live umbrella page.
Even though they already hold the title of the most used messenger program; they obviously want to reach even farther into the online cookie jar. Microsoft wants to offer competition with the popular social networking sites like Facebook and MySpace. Whether or not they can actually provide any kind of competition coming into the game this much later remains to be seen. What’s Microsoft’s plan? Keep reading.
GMX Global Mail Exchange takes on Gmail, Yahoo! Mail, Windows Hotmail
The web mail scene has been dominated by either Gmail, Yahoo! Mail or Windows Hotmail for quite some time now. Although there have been many other web-based email systems who have tried to enter the fray, none has been successful as of yet. So it would seem that GMX Global Mail Exchange may be up to a tough task of getting into the web mail niche.
GMX Global Mail Exchange aims to provide an alternative web mail solution for home users as well as small and medium sized enterprises. It’s your typical web based email that supports POP3, IMAP and SMTP protocols and mobile devices. GMX also allows you to create up to 10 additional emails that all forward and can be checked from your main account, which is a nice way to keep your main email address a little more private. If you notice too much junk or spam from one of your alternates simply delete it and start with a new one.
