HTC Vision smartphone spotted, may be called the G1 Blaze when it arrives with T-Mobile
It looks like the HTC Vision has made another in-the-wild style appearance, and this time its sporting some T-Mobile branding. Granted, that does not tell us whether its T-Mobile here in the US or in Europe. So there is still some questions that are going to need an answer. Worth noting is that the name more »
T-Mobile discounts the G1, now down to $129.99
There is some good news if you are looking to make the move to an Android smartphone and are not feeling the touchscreen-only keyboard that comes with the myTouch 3G because T-Mobile has just lowered the price for the G1. The phone, of course still comes with the required two-year agreement in order to get more »
Google Android also includes “kill switch” for unwanted apps
It seems that the Apple iPhone is not the only handset to feature include a remote kill switch. A small but revealing piece of the Android Market terms of service has revealed that the remote removal of an application may be possible.
“Google may discover a product that violates the developer distribution agreement . . . in such an instance, Google retains the right to remotely remove those applications from your device at its sole discretion.”
Hopefully this will be used for apps that may do some damage, or cause issues with the handset and not for apps that T-Mobile does not want. More after the break.
HTC expecting to produce up to 2 million G1s
With a few weeks left until the official launch, it seems that HTC is feeling pretty confident in terms of just how many of the G1s they are going to sell. There have already been reports coming from “industry insiders” that T-Mobile is planning to order somewhere between 1.5 and 2 million units. Of those more »
Gadgetell tests the T-Mobile G1’s call quality
Gadgetell got to try out the call quality of a T-Mobile G1 and compare it to an iPhone 3G. There were no decibel meters or any other fancy scientific equipment used, just two guys with decent hearing and some phones.
While at the T-Mobile G1 Android event, I got to talk with the guys from Big in Japan, makers of the ShopSavvy application. We were discussing the G1 as a phone when I asked their “Tech Shogun,” Rylan Barnes, about call quality of the G1. He said it was alright.
Knowing that the Gadgetell readers out there would like to find out how the G1 performs as a phone firsthand (or first-ear as the case may be), we conducted some tests.
See how the phones performed in a noisy hall after the break.
Best Buy to carry the T-Mobile G1, Pearl Flip 8220, Palm Treo Pro
As much as this pains me to say, it appears as if Best Buy is becoming the place to go for popular handsets. It was not that long ago that they added the iPhone 3G and HTC Touch Diamond.
Now, it looks like customers will soon be able to grab a few more smartphones and it seems that October 26 is the day to look forward to. On that day Best Buy will make the unlocked Palm Treo Pro available. Of course, that is perhaps the least exciting of the bunch as the Pearl Flip 8220 and HTC G1 will also be made available that same day.
T-Mobile G1 official user manual hits the web
Just for those people who still have not gotten enough information about the soon-to-be-released T-Mobile G1, there has been some more information recently released. This time it is in the form of the official G1 user manual, and its a nice 48 pages in total. This should hopefully help fill some time until the official release, of course in actuality we know that most people rarely read these and even if you did it may just serve as a teaser.
HTC Dream G1 rumored to sell for just $199
Thankfully, we have less than an week before T-Mobile officially unveils the Android powered HTC Dream, because the rumor mill is going to end up in full swing. The latest rumored details are pretty exciting and are calling for an affordable $199 price tag. That low price, of course, comes with a contract, which will more »
