Verizon cuts pricing of many smartphones to $99 with a 2 year contract
Verizon has dropped all smartphone pricing to $99 with a few exceptions. Prominent smartphones such as the HTC Touch Pro and the HTC Touch Diamond have also received price cuts and are now selling for $99 with a two year contract. Maybe Verizon wants to give customers’ wallets a break, or they are trying to clear these devices to make way for the HTC Touch Pro 2 and the HTC Touch Diamond 2.
Rumor: HTC Touch Pro2 headed for T-Mobile USA
We have already seen an official confirmation that the HTC Touch Pro2 was headed for a North American launch, however the currently rumored carrier is a little surprising. Given the 3G capabilities, many assumed that it would be AT&T that would be offering this handset. Instead, it seems that T-Mobile may have it first. This more »
HTC Touch Pro2 release confirmed for North America
HTC has gone on record, well actually on Twitter, and confirmed that the Touch Pro2 will be coming to North America.
They said, “And to answer the big question on everyone’s minds, the Touch Pro2 will be broadly available in all major markets, including North America.”
Unfortunately, I guess due to the fact this was a Twitter message and not an official press release, we are still missing some important information such as the pricing and a release date. Of course, rumor has it being available in Europe this summer and the US in the fall.
As far as features, the Touch Pro2 will include a 3.6-inch display with an 800 x 480 resolution, a 3.2-megapixel camera with auto-focus, microSD card slot and will be running Windows Mobile 6.1 with the TouchFLO interface. Additionally, the Touch Pro2 will have a slide-out QWERTY keyboard with a display that tilts up when opened. Another item that was not mentioned is whether it will include support for 3G here in the US. Of course, we all hope the answer to that is yes.
Fennec sees pre-alpha release
If you’re on the Internet for very long, chances are you extensively use or have at least heard a lot about Mozilla’s Firefox browser. It runs on almost every machine possible and Mozilla is expanding its efforts to yet more machines. In its first public pre-alpha release, Fennec, the Windows Mobile version of Firefox is available, for some people at least.
The new release is targeted towards the HTC Touch Pro, mainly to focus their efforts on making the browser more stable as a whole rather than having to work around the hardware of all the WinMo phones that are out there. Even now, it doesn’t have the support it will have later in development. There’s no extension support, touch screen keyboard is disabled and all updates have to be manually installed. But, for a pre-alpha release it seems reasonable.
HTC Touch Pro now available with Verizon
Verizon Wireless has just added the HTC Touch Pro to the available lineup, which means that the Touch Pro can now be found on every major US carrier except T-Mobile. Moving on, the Verizon Wireless branded Touch Pro is a similar offering as the rest of the carriers, except for the pricing, with that it more »

HTC Touch Pro in limited release on October 26
Back on October 17, we reported that Sprint’s Touch Pro would be delayed, and wouldn’t be available on October 19, like Sprint originally promised. However, they have announced that their HTC Touch Pro would be available coming October 26. On October 26, the Touch Pro would only be available in “select national retailers,” but on November 2, it will be widely available from Sprint’s online store and all national retailers.
Sprint plans to sell the Touch Pro for $299 on a 2 year contract with a variation of their Simply Everything Plan. Otherwise you will have to get their $25 data package supplementing your existing data plan. Continued after the break.
Sprint delays the HTC Touch Pro
In a little bit of bad news, the HTC Touch Pro has been delayed with Sprint. Sure the news of a delay is typically not welcomed, but, in this case, it seems the delay is just a few weeks. Originally, Sprint had announced back during CTIA they expected to launch the HTC Touch Pro on more »
AT&T leak confirms HTC Touch Pro coming as the Fuze
We have seen the previous rumors and even some leaked images showing off what appears to be an AT&T branded HTC Touch Pro, of course until now those have remained nothing more than rumor. However thanks to a recently surfaced page on the AT&T website (now cached) we can confirm that AT&T will be launching the Touch Pro, and it has been dubbed the Fuze.
The details all seem to be in place, of course they still have not given any indication on when the Fuze will become available, or how much it will set users back. Otherwise the HTC Touch Pro Fuze seems like it will be just as expected and feature tri-band HSDPA, GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, VGA touch screen display and be running Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional.
