It seems that Sling Media is planning to have a very busy year, with support coming to more and more devices. Dave Zatz has confirmed that they (Sling Media) have an iPhone SDK, but where they decide to go with be another story and an actual player has not been confirmed to be in the more »
Breaking: iPhone 2.0 “on the water”?
A quiet buzz is going around this morning after word of iPhone shortages are cropping up in NYC Apple stores. Some sites are questioning if this is the sell-down prior to intro of the iPhone 2.0, as this method is right out of the Apple play book. We see it with just about every iPod more »
Mobile enterprise wars: iPhone making inroads?
In the past couple of weeks, I’ve looked at enterprise opportunities for Apple vs. Microsoft. I’ve looked at how Apple may be trying to leverage the iPhone machine into more enterprise sales and we’ve looked at the costs to do so. This week, it is all about Mobile.
Exposed: GPS for iPhone interview
I was able to catch up briefly with the PosiMotionteam and learned just a little bit more about their idea to bring an external GPS receiver data to the iPhone. Since Apple doesn’t seem to be freeing up bluetooth for anything but the headset and the SDK isn’t allowing software to talk through the dock, just how do you get GPS data into the phone? PosiMotion’s answer is via WiFi. Clever.
Proof: Apple steering iPhone SDK to gamers
Apple has conned over a million people to watch its video on last weeks SDK announcement.Ok, maybe “cons” is a bit harsh. Apples video was up after most of us had already written about it and spilled the beans on what the video held. But that didn’t stop the 1 million plus see Steve and Co. talk about the SDK for themselves. Judging from the numbers, the iPhone is still gaining fans. Check out this graph of what Apple is holding up as excitement for the SDK:
Sun:iPhone to get Java | Apple: no way
At last week’s Apple event, Steve Jobs went over the SDK release and how they hope to manage it. Job’s lightly reviewed reasons Apple would reject an iPhone application; things like privacy concerns, content, or interfering with their business plan. Somehow, Sun believes they’ll build a Java version for the iPhone.
Gadgetell Rant: Apple becoming “untouchable”?
Can anyone duplicate the enthusiasm Apple has built here? Like me, I am sure you’ve read all about yesterday’s Apple event. Perusing the forums this morning and it feels a bit like Christmas, doesn’t it?
Apple over delivered on a promise they under sold. Originally an SDK was a no go. Then, Steve gave it some thought and built something amazing and amazingly simple at the same time: a way to get applications through them to the public all while maintaining control. How excited are the developers? I think the SKD download server crashes says it all.
Apple pitching iPhone to big business: YES!
Yes, Apple announced the SDK conference will take place next Thursday. Exciting. But perhaps more exciting, came this bit: “some exciting new enterprise features.” What is exciting about enterprise? It could be the Lotus application we know IBM has been working on. It could be Exchange support. It could have something to do with Captain Kirk.
Breaking: Apple store is down. Fresh rumors
Tuesday brings the almost watch-settable downing of the Apple Store promising something new. Will it be a Mac Book Pro as so many are suggesting? Will it be the SDK (doubt it)? Will it be a new color theme for the website? So many theories, so much drama. One this is certain, Apple moves to more »
