UK teens release hate on iPods. Study says CDs rule

Call it “Delusional Thursday” if you like, but a recent study from The Leading Question, in conjunction with Music Ally, says UK teens don’t just like CDs better, they prefer them. In a world where the iPod has become more common than fire from a Sony laptop battery, we are floored by this study’s results.

2/3rds of UK teens prefer using CDs to share music. Digital downloads, cassette tapes, and 8-track tapes (presumably) make up the remaining 34% for these 14-18 year-olds. The study emphasizes the “try before you buy” aspect of streaming and digital music as a way the music industry can sell more records. 59% of those surveyed say they listen to music CDs every day.

South American inner tubes defend your gadgets

Yes, right now, South America is buzzing with trucks delivering goods. All these trucks are hoping to blow a tire as soon as possible, so they pour on the miles and take the bumpiest route all in an effort to protect your iPhone, laptop and other gadgetry. MySpace to create an MP3 player?

Look out Apple, there could be a company in town with a player to kill the iPod. In all seriousness, MySpace might enter the MP3 player department, a place where Apple’s iPod has dominated for quite a while now.

At the Web 2.0 Summit meeting on Thursday, MySpace co-founder and Chief Executive, Chris DeWolfe, shed some light on the fact that MySpace could develop a music player, but nothing is set in stone.

MySpace has used music a lot to make their site bigger and bigger. Many small (and large) bands use MySpace as a way to share their music. They even launched a new service, called MySpace Music, which works with popular music labels including Sony BMG Music, Universal Music Group, and Warner Music Group. More after the break.

Trade all your gadgets for an iPhone? These folks did.

Tough times call for tough actions. It seems in light of all the economic bad news, lower income folks are ditching gadgets to have just one: the iPhone 3G. Who needs two iPods? Who needs a netbook? Who needs a home phone line?

Indeed, one could argue the iPhone is just a tethering application away from ditching your home line, your broadband connection, your cable or satellite company, heck — even books are not able to escape all the niches Apple’s wonder child can get its hands on. My thinking here is tethering would allow you to use your laptop/desktop via the iPhones 3G connection, so you can ditch the $25 per month + for broadband.

See how many folks continue to flock to the iPhone, ditching other gadgets.

Track your tracker

Pugilists are not as interested in your case as in what’s in it. According to the FBI, Blackberries, iPods and GPS systems are the new, widely targeted devices. Recent crime statistics show that motor vehicle theft last year remained nearly the same as in 2004. However, thefts of parts and accessories from vehicles has jumped more »
