Apple will print and mail your greeting cards

During its iPhone event today, Apple revealed a new application called Cards. Cards is very straightforward. Using your iPhone, you can select pictures on your device and create greeting cards from them. Apple will provide you with 21 design choices and will even mail them for you. Postagram just got some competition.

Check your mailbox, T-Mobile is giving away gift cards

If you’re a T-Mobile customer, you should keep your eyes open for a magenta envelope on your mailbox. T-Mobile has began sending out promotional gift cards that are worth a cool $25. The criteria for getting a gift card isn’t clear. I received one recently, and it expires at the end of August 2011. The gift card can be used at T-Mobile retail locations.

Welcome to the 7/15 edition of Who’s on Crack in tech. Today, we’ll look back at the, shall we say interesting, week in the tech world and perhaps dig just a little deep to see which companies are off their meds or perhaps are on something a bit stronger. Let’s get to the accused: Best more »

Gmail recipient suggestions: helpful or creepy?

Don’t get us wrong, it’s great the folks at Gmail are looking to help us out. But when your free email box starts suggesting you might have forgotten someone off your reply, it seems a bit creepy. Gmail has moved recipient suggestions out of the labs and into the full product today. We’ve received quite more »

Gadgetell investigates: Netflix to take on iTunes, Amazon?

Netflix made news last week when CEO Reed Hastings declared, “In fact, by every measure, we are now primarily a streaming company that also offers DVD-by-mail”. Today, Robert Nelson reported Netflix is doing more pricing tests that will probably lead to a higher price for all customers. However, I’ve read through the Q3 report and more »

Gmail showing some snail mail holiday spirit by sending postcards

GMail is down, but you can still get your mail

Right now, access to the web version of GMail is down for some. Users are greeted with a server error and offered little comfort. A quick look at Twitter will help you access your mail even if the first option is down. The first is iGoogle’s mail widget. If you don’t already have the widget more »

Hooray! Gmail adds a basic feature, upgrades uploading

It’s one of those “if anyone else did this, it wouldn’t be news” stories. Google just added the ability to upload multiple items without having to repeatedly click “Attach a File.” Now, you can hit the button once and you can select lots of files.

This is one of those small features that you may not notice at first, but when you need it, you’ll be glad it’s there. Due to Gmail’s old way of attaching files, I would regularly create a .ZIP file to send. That also let me make sure I didn’t run into any upload limits (Gmail has a 20MB cap on attachments).

Maybe Google has been slow to add features to Gmail because they have everyone working on their super-non-secret GDrive project.

You’ve heard of beer goggles, now we’ve got Mail Goggles

You know those late night e-mails you send out pleading for your girlfriend to take you back? Then, you wake up the next morning and remember all the reasons you broke up with her in the first place and think oh my God what did I do?!? and wish there was a big old RETRACT button on your e-mail? Well, until they come up with that e-mail retract button, they have something else. Something that will at least sort of slow you down and make you think before you send that pleading missive of unrequited love. Something that makes you solve math problems.

Yep. You read that right. Solve math problems. See, GMail Engineer Jon Perlow over at Google Labs figured that if you are actually going to sit there and be able to think through solving some math problems, then just maybe you are in fact thinking clearly, and actually do want to send that email and the desire isn’t just an alcohol induced psychosis. Find out more after the break.
