Twitter’s Promoted Tweets begin today
Starting today, Twitter will begin to push Promoted Tweets (also known as ad Tweets) to its users. This is Twitter’s attempt to earn more revenue for the company. Promoted Tweets will appear in specific user’s timelines when they visit Twitter.com. Like we said in an earlier report, Promoted Tweets aren’t that bad.
Outpouring of hate delivered to Netflix. 3 words that could have changed it
Netflix has been the darling of early adopters and has managed to jump into the mainstream with nary a backlash. The companies price increase, announced yesterday is prompting a response that is decidedly negative. The question they have to be asking themselves is: did they go too far? When outspoken fan of most things TV, more »
Twitter’s Promoted Tweets to Followers doesn’t sound so bad
In late June, reports surfaced about Twitters upcoming attempt to boost revenue. The solution was ads, but not just any ads. These advertisements will shuffle their way into your Twitter feed. I know a lot of you hate the idea of ads in your feed, especially since you have to deal with spam tweets already. But the new Twitter Promoted Tweets to Followers initiative won’t be as intrusive as you may think.
Vodafone made up story about stolen Xperia Play smartphones
Vodofone New Zealand made a very serious claim on Twitter yesterday when it said that the launch of the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play (PlayStation Phone) would be delayed. The reason for the delay is what made this story so upsetting. Vodafone said that it suffered a security breach and all of its Xperia Play smartphones were stolen. Vodafone has now admitted that it made the whole thing up as a way to drum up business.

Businesses rushing to grab Facebook data off BitTorrent
Earlier we reported on how a security researcher had figured out how to grab the data from over 100 million Facebook profiles that their clueless users had left completely public. Those fun online quizzes may be more than you bargained for
I’m a genius who is the reincarnation of the ever-breathy Marilyn Monroe. I understand men 100%, and I’m also the cartoon character Dory as well as the Disney Princess Mulan. No, I don’t have split personality disorder or any other kind of mental heath diagnosis (I think). Just the results of a bunch of those online quizzes. Yeah, you know what I mean. I also learned that these quizzes aren’t just about killing some time and a few chuckles. It all boils down to the money, right? Did you really think this was any exception?

Feelin’ Blu?
It would appear that the in word at the moment is ‘Blu’ as yet another product with the prefix of Blu emerges, this time in the genre of health. The goLITE BLU is essentially advanced light therapy to fight against S.A.D. (seasonal defective disorder) as well as the general winter depression.
Surprisingly, though this is not made by Sony, rather by Phillips who appear to have hijacked the poorly spelled color in their product name. Beneath the fancy wording and scientific explanations is the fact the device is an alarm clock that uses new light technology (yes you guessed it, blue light) to sight against S.A.D. Continued after the break.
Gadgetell Review: Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2
Gadgetell Quick Review: Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2
What is it?
Lightroom 2 is a program for Windows and Mac OS X designed to help organize, streamline, and develop your photos. It costs $99 for the upgrade from Lightroom 1 or $299 for first time buyers.
Pros:
Easy to use thanks to clean and organized interface.Imports all of your files using your preexisting directory structure.Works with a wide variety of file formats.
Cons:
Does not allow pixel editing. Requires another program for that task.Initial use can be frustrating and can cause loss of work.
Does it hit the mark?
Yes. Lightroom 2 definitely lived up to all of my expectations. It’s easy to see that this program would be extremely popular with anyone working in the art or ad industry, or someone who does batch work with photos. The program allows for very controlled editing and is remarkably easy to use.
