McDonald’s isn’t bringing ordering terminals to the U.S., yet

A report from the Financial Times earlier this week revealed that McDonald’s restaurants in Europe will provide customers with an alternative ordering method. Instead of walking to the register and being forced to interact with a human being for 30 seconds, customers will have the option of using a touchscreen ordering terminal. These terminals are destined to appear in 7,000 McDonald’s restaurants across Europe. Is the United States in for a similar fate? That’s what we wanted to find out.

European McDonald’s restaurants testing touchscreen terminals

McDonald’s will provide a new way for customers to order food at its 7,000 locations in Europe. A Financial Times story states that this new method involves touchscreen terminals with built-in credit card readers. On the surface, this change could expedite the process of ordering fast food. On the other hand, it could cost a lot of jobs.

McDonalds asks, “Would you like fries with your spyware?”

McDonalds recently ran a contest for winning a free MP3 player for text messaging a code. It appears that 10,000 people won an MP3 player and couple free songs. What they didn’t account for was winning some free spyware with their player. It seems that McDonalds didn’t think to carefully when choosing the vendor that more »
