Watch what you tweet: woman sued over twitter update

A Chicago woman has been slapped with a $50,000 lawsuit by her landlord. Horizon Group Management filed the lawsuit after the woman complained about her apartment on Twitter. Horizon was angered by her claim that they didn’t care about the mold problem in her apartment. Although she did not have her tweets protected, the complaint only reached about 20 people. Horizon claims the statement “”maliciously and wrongfully” defamed them.

Welcome to Twitter 101: A guide to all those goofy acronyms

As just about everybody knows, Twitter is fast becoming one of the biggest social networks out there. Heck, even Ashton and CNN were apparently battling it out to be top tweeter. And given that Twitter limits you to just 140 characters, you have to make each one count. As a result, you see lots of shorthand and acronyms in Twitter-land. Some are ones you are probably pretty familiar with if you’ve already been using some kind of IM (that would be “Instant Messenger”), some, maybe not.

In which case, sure is a good thing you’ve got us to help decipher that Twitter-code, huh? Don’t worry, in no time, you’ll be tweeting like a crazybird (Uh…if that’s a good thing). Jack in the Box has more followers on Twitter than you

This is a real low. Jack in the Box’s fictional character Jack Box is on Twitter and has more followers than I do. The fast food company began a new marketing campaign featured on Twitter alerting followers that Jack was hit by a bus on Sunday. The company ran a Super Bowl ads in selected markets as well.

While his normal tweets were things like: “Having a taco-riffic day!” and “Thinking of new ideas for breakfast sandwiches.” or “Teaching Jack Jr. French,” his assistant tweeted “This is Barbara, Jack’s assistant.
