Dell Mini 9 tries to burn down house

As a sit here with my laptop nearly burning my leg, it’s stories like this that scare me. A one year old Dell Mini proceeded to growl like an angry chihuahua as its owner unplugged it and placed in on the wooden floor. For only a few minutes the Mini would hiss, sizzle, and smoke more »

Dell brings back the once EOL’d Mini 9 netbook for a limited time, priced from $199

Sure, Dell has already officially killed off the Mini 9, but that does not seem to be stopping them from bringing it back for a short encore. Basically, the Mini 9 will be available for just four days, which means if you have been wishing you hit the buy button before it went away last time you need to react quickly.

Dell’s Mini 9 netbook closely approaching its end-of-life

Just recently the Dell Mini 9 product listing has been going on and off of the Dell website. This led many to wonder whether the site was being updated or if Dell had other plans. Initially, I had thought it a little strange, in part because the Mini 9 seems to have a fair amount more »

Will your netbook handle OS X? This compatibility chart should help

If you have read any of my previous posts, it should come as little surprise that I am a big fan of netbooks, however given our sister site Appletell does such a great job with the Mac coverage, I do not often get to cover another favorite of mine — OS X. So with that, it is safe to assume that I would be more than willing to pick up an official Apple netbook, should one be announced. Continued.

Until then, I plan to hold off running OS X on a netbook, despite how tempting it is. Of course if you are not as willing to wait as I am, then a new compatibility chart should help you out when it comes to choosing a netbook to work with. Short story, if you are considering going this route then you may want to pick up an MSI Wind, Dell Inspiron Mini 9 or an HP Mini-Note 2133. Other models do and will work, but each will be missing some functionality. Surprisingly one of the more popular models, the Eee PC 9xx and 1000 series lack support for both audio and ethernet.

Dell seems to be continually offering new options on their Inspiron Mini 9 and the latest is sure to make plenty of people happy — an option for built in 3G. The 3G option is unfortunately just for new orders and is only available on Windows XP based Mini 9s. As for pricing, it will more »

Dell adds 32GB SSD option on the Inspiron Mini 9

Dell has continued to improve upon the Inspiron Mini 9 with new colors along with new features. We saw those new colors hit the US market just a few days back, and now Dell has followed up with an even more welcomed addition — an optional 32GB SSD.

Dell quietly adds artwork options to the Mini 9, Mini 12 lineup, also adds pink, red

This is for the folks who had their hearts set on grabbing an Inspiron Mini 9 or Mini 12 netbook from Dell, but were not really feeling the black or white options. Rest easy, because Dell has announced some new design options as well as the pink and red colors for both the Mini 9 and Mini 12.

The new colors are officially being called “Cherry Red” and “Pretty Pink” and sadly they are both coming with a $25 premium. Hopefully, Dell will have a change of heart on that added cost. If you remember back, the Apline White originally had that same premium, but it was quickly removed.

As for the artwork options, there are five designs available, all of which are from artist Tristan Eaton. As for that extra cost involved with the artwork, these designs add an additional $50 to the purchase price. Keep reading to check out some images of the five available artwork designs…

Dell rolls out 32GB SSD equipped pink, red Inspiron Mini 9′s in Japan

Remember that red colored Inspiron Mini 9 that Michael Dell was spotted carrying around during the All Things Digital conference this past May? Well, it appears that some customers will soon be able to grab an Inspiron Mini 9 of their own in red, and also pink. Dell has just released both new models, but more »

Dell introduces the next up in their line of sleek netbooks: the Inspiron Mini 12

So, Dell comes out with a new netbook. At first, the Mini 12 was just a rumor, but it is all official. It comes complete with a 12-inch display (up from their earlier Mini 9 model), although it is pretty much geared for the same crowd. According to Dell, it is super for “teens, tweens, travelers and ‘Tweeters’ to surf the Web, chat with friends, blog, stream content, upload photos or enjoy online videos, music and games.”

Keep reading to find out when you’ll be able to get one and what this thing is running.

Dell removes $25 premium on alpine white Inspiron mini 9

Back when Dell originally announced the Inspiron Mini 9, one of the complaints that we saw come up often was that the Alpine White coloring came with a $25 price premium. Well, in a little bit of good news, Dell has quietly lowered the price premium and it is now the same “Included in Price” more »
