Spotted: New, unnamed Myvu video goggles at CES 2009
Myvu, maker of video goggles, was at CES with a small booth. They were showing off new set of video goggles. The unnamed set was very similar to the Myvu Crystal. You can see the Crystal on the left and the unnamed set of goggles on the right.
The resolution stays the same at 640×480 (which also tells you that the model has a 4:3 aspect ratio). The difference in the two? The field of view changed from 21 to 24 degrees. This gives the impression at watching a larger screen. You can see another pic after the break.
A new AIBO, but it’s not what you think
I’ve always had a soft-spot for the Sony AIBO, the “Artificial Intelligence roBOt” pet. Imagine my surprise when I saw a press release stating AIBO was coming. It turns out that this new AIBO is actually a set of video glasses from iMovee.
Vuzix iWear AV310 first 16:9 widescreen portable video viewer
According to Vuzix, their most recent HMD (Head-Mounted Display), the AV310, is the first 16:9 widescreen portable video viewer. The AV310 is equipped for use with NTSC and PAL, and it is able to connect with many portable video devices, including video playing iPods.
The company has stated that the video viewing experience is like watching a 52 inch screen from 9 feet away. Still, I’m not certain whether the AV310 be a hit, and it has nothing to do with the $250 price tag.
