Hulu Plus gets exclusive rights to show all episodes of Community

Netflix gained a lot of favor when it revealed it secured rights to exclusively distribute new episodes of Arrested Development in 2013. It will forever be known as the company that helped bring back a show that was adored by a lot of very dedicated fans. Hulu just announced a similar agreement involving Community. Hulu Plus is now the only place to watch every episode of Community.

Amazon announced that it has made a deal with NBCUniversal that will give it access to part of the Universal Studios movie library. Conan O’Brien puts Tonight Show up for sale on Craigslist

The ugly mess known as NBC late night has taken an interesting turn of events. Conan O’Brien, who has so far refused to agree to NBC’s request that he move to the 12:05 timeslot in order to accommodate Jay Leno, announced on Wednesday’s show that he has put the Tonight Show up for sale on more »

Today, Blip announced some big changes that are going to mean something to anyone with a TiVo, has Verizon FIOS, or a Sony TV with Ethernet jack.

We’ve all wished at one time or another for some magic delete button in our lives. You know, like when you’ve said something incredibly embarrassing out loud that you thought you were just thinking to yourself. Wouldn’t a delete or rewind button come in handy? Hulu to go commercial-free tonight

Hulu’s a great way to catch up with shows you’ve missed. Their advertising breaks are even somewhat bearable. Tonight will be different though. Tonight, McDonald’s McCafé promotion starts on Hulu. Together they are bringing commercial-free Hulu programming from 7PM EST to 3AM EST. That’s a pretty cool deal. I’d assume that we would see and more »

Online video war part 2: Battle of the network sites

We’re back with another helpful post on how to find the best in online video. Last time, we covered Joost, Hulu, and Sling. This time, we’re talking about the individual networks. While it may be more work to go to different sites, you will get better quality video and that’s worth the trouble of typing in a few URLs. Also find out which sites to avoid.

Hulu says “Bye bye” to Boxee

Hulu announced today that its content providers have requested Hulu’s content to be removed from Boxee. If you haven’t heard of it, Boxee is a free media center and is an offshoot of the XBox Media Center that currently supports Mac and Linux (Windows support is coming). In the blog post announcing the cut, the Hulu team comes off almost as frustrated as I am as a Boxee-user.

Hulu has a right to be quite frustrated. It just launched a big ad campaign during the Super Bowl. Now is not the time to have your content providers pushing you around and forcing you to alienate part of your user-base. Boxee’s response in its blog was disappointed, but understanding.

Super Bowl ads all over the web

Whether you’re a sports fan or not, I’m sure you were aware that the Super Bowl was last night. While the game turned out to be a fun one, there are always the commercials for those not interested in football.

NBC.com, Hulu.com, and NFL.com have all the ads collected on each of their sites. Strangely, NFL.com and Hulu make you sit through an ad before you get to watch a Super Bowl ad. Hulu seems to have the best video player of the three, the NFL site actually has game highlights (in 4:3, why?), and NBC is probably the most convenient since you don’t have to sit through a pre-ad ad.
