Augen said to be prepping GenTouch Espresso line of tablets
Augen may not have ended up having a hit on their hands with the $150 Augen GenTouch78 tablet with Android. Of course, having those issues with Google and the Android Market, that is not really all that surprising. That said, it looks like Augen may be down at the moment, but not completely out of more »
The 3G iPhone speculation continues
An Austrian newspaper, der Standard recently posted an article announcing that a 3G based iPhone would be “soon” available. They are not only claiming the new phone will be available but have also mentioned details about some new “more flexible” service plans to go along with it. Of course this is all just rumor at more »
BlackBerry Kickstart to land with T-Mobile
Well the recently surfaced clamshell styled BlackBerry Kickstart looks like it will be heading to T-Mobile. Originally labeled as being released sometime in 2008, it has since been un-officially narrowed down to September. Of course without any official announcement that is more than subject to change, and no pricing has been mentioned or even speculated.
Otherwise the Kickstart does not look as unappealing as it did originally, based on reports it will be anodized and the back battery cover will have either a soft rubberized finish or a low gloss finish. Other features include a “next-gen” SureType keyboard, 2-megapixel camera, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g, a 3.5mm headset jack, and will be quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE. The Kickstart will be running OS version 4.6 and have a 240 x 320 internal display with a 160 x 128 external display, both of which will be 16-bit color LCD’s.
Could these be images of the upcoming next-gen 3G iPhone
While these images seem realistic, they could be a mix of just about anything from a Photoshop job to simply being an iPhone knock-off. One thing that is for sure is that these next-gen 3G iPhone rumors and sightings are not going to stop until the official announcement comes.
The latest sighting consists of two images and comes courtesy of iPhon.fr, who claim that they cannot verify the source of the images, so take them for what they are worth. Whether real or faked, they certainly look a little more in the ballpark than the last “leaked” image that turned out to be nothing more than a new back piece being sold in Hong Kong.
Luckily June, the rumored release date is somewhat close, lets hope we can put these rumors to a rest. Of course, that just means another will pop up. Keep reading for one more pic, this time of the backside…
Exclusive Q and A with Palm: What does the future hold?
I had the chance to sit down with Palm’s PR for a private briefing at CES 2008 and had some time for Q/A at the end. I disclosed to them that I’m a big Palm supporter and are waiting for their big “come back,” so they knew I’m not the enemy.
A large part of our discussion surrounded the infamous “open letter” to Palm that Engadget’s Peter Rojas, Ryan Block, and Joshua Topolsky published back in August called discussed shortly thereafter. Read on for the full Q and A regarding their decision to stop production of the folio, their next gen platform, and plans to go head-to-head with the iPhone.
