A million Nokia 5800s shipped
The Nokia 5800 XpressMusic , the one with “Comes with Music” service, has hit a landmark event. One million Nokia 5800s have been shipped around the world. The phone has also just been released in the UK.
It took Nokia four months to reach the million mark; the 5800 XpressMusic was released in October of 2008. It only took the original iPhone 74 days to hit one million, and one weekend for the iPhone 3G to accomplish the same feat. Like many phone manufacturers, Nokia entered the touchscreen phone market after Apple changed the game. The 5800 is their first major attempt at a touchscreen phone.
More Nokia touchscreen phones are coming

In a recent event in India, Devinder Kishore, Marketing Director of Nokia revealed, “We will have lot of touchscreen phones coming up, including an N-series device more »
The long anticipated Nokia 5800 launch
If you happen to be a Nokia fanboy, like I am, you will definitely be interested in the following update as to the exact date the Nokia 5800 (The “Nokia Tube”) will be launched.
After being put on hold for quite some time (a year and a half, to be exact), some “unknown yet reliable” source has revealed its launching date will be October 2, 2008, just as Reuters had reported. It may or may not be true, but let’s just keep our fingers crossed! (Hey, it’s Reuters reporting it. We should be able to place a certain degree of trust on that information!). Nokia may not be the earliest to jump on the touchscreen-mobile-phones bandwagon, but it certainly isn’t late because there is still demand for touchscreen phones, as can be seen from the craze surrounding the Apple, LG, and Samsung touchscreen phones.
Nokia Tube remastered, could be Nokia 5800 XpressMedia
The clever folks over at Nokia Port have deciphered the riddle behind Nokia’s new touchscreen phone, a.k.a. the “Nokia Tube”. In the rendered image pictured above, you can see what the Nokia Tube touchscreen phone might look like without the fuss. It’s got a lot of striking similarities to Apple’s iPhone, which I suspect cannot be helped anyway, since this is really a good design in the first place. But what’s most intriguing is the possibility that this will belong to a new product line, called XpressMedia, with a number designation of 5800.
