The HP TouchPad ironically takes the #2 spot for tablets in the U.S.

Who would have imagined a failed tablet would turn out to be the most successful non-Apple tablet as of October 2011? The NPD Group released a report today that said 1.2 million non-Apple tablets were sold in the United States from January to October. The HP Touchpad accounted for 17% (204,000) of that number. HP was followed by Samsung, Asus, Motorola and Acer.

Consumers still favor DVDs over streaming services

According to new data gathered from market research firm NPD Group, the vast majority of video consumers still prefer physical Blu-ray and DVD discs “more than all digital-video options combined.” The NPD Group surveyed roughly 10,000 US consumers over the age of 13 regarding their personal video habits from January to March of this year. more »
