Treo Pro gets removed from the Palm website

With the Palm Pre, and later the Pixi taking center stage with webOS, its no surprise that older Palm models including the Treo Pro have been taking a back seat. But still there is something to be said about seeing one of those models lose its dedicated page on the Palm website. The latest model more »

AT&T requiring Treo 680 users to upgrade their firmware

It was once upon a time, well actually more like December 2007 when Palm announced the last firmware update for the AT&T branded Treo 680 and since then it seems that some users have chosen to not update. Put it this way, that update came so long ago that one of the features that it more »

Verizon Wireless rumored release schedule for 2009, early 2010

It would appear as if the upcoming release schedule for Verizon Wireless has been revealed. It is important to point out that at this time, the following list should be considered nothing more than a rumor, however that aside, the list is not all that exciting — except for the BlackBerry Storm 2. What we more »

Gadgetell Review: Palm Treo Pro from Sprint

Now available from Sprint is Palm’s latest keyboard style Blackberry wannabe complete with small screen and a full key thumbpad. Sprint offers this phone on a 2 year contract basis for $199.99 including $250 instant savings and a $100 mail-in rebate. This is the Pro not the Pre. If you’re looking for a full touchscreen ala iPhone or Storm, you’ve got the wrong phone. Who is this for? Cellphone users who are email-centric and have tiny fingers or long fingernails. Keep reading for the full review.

Don’t want a Pre? How about a Palm Pro instead?

Despite the numerous delays surrounding the Palm PRO, it has once again surfaced with what appears to be an actual availability time frame. According to a March circular for Best Buy Mobile it looks like those waiting will be able to make a purchase beginning as early as February 22.

Keep in mind, the Palm PRO is heading to Sprint, so be prepared to sign a two-year agreement. As far as the pricing, new customers can grab the PRO for $249.99 and current customers that are eligible for an upgrade will have to shell out $269.99.

Palm Pre: overcoming Palm’s successes and failures

With all the buzz garnered by the CES announcement of the new Palm Pre and webOS, we thought it would be a good idea to take a quick look back at how Palm got here. Looking back over this data, I find it almost unthinkable that the Treo 180 was launched in 2002, just 7 years ago. As one of the first to get that phone (the 180g actually – long live Graffiti), it feels like centuries. Palm has had ups and downs like a roller coaster.

Enter the Palm Pilot

See how early successes should have set Palm up to rule the smartphone world.

AT&T adds Palm Treo Pro to “Specialty Vertical Device program”

Unlocked and unbranded phones always come with a little worry, generally you will experience an issue or two, and when you are paying over $500, or more specifically $549 in the case of the Palm Treo Pro there is a decent amount of reason for caution. The good news here is that for AT&T customers more »

Best Buy to carry the T-Mobile G1, Pearl Flip 8220, Palm Treo Pro

As much as this pains me to say, it appears as if Best Buy is becoming the place to go for popular handsets. It was not that long ago that they added the iPhone 3G and HTC Touch Diamond.

Now, it looks like customers will soon be able to grab a few more smartphones and it seems that October 26 is the day to look forward to. On that day Best Buy will make the unlocked Palm Treo Pro available. Of course, that is perhaps the least exciting of the bunch as the Pearl Flip 8220 and HTC G1 will also be made available that same day.

Smartphone stock share decreasing

Smartphones, the name given to devices that combine a phone and pda in once device capable of doing everything from editing spreadsheets to browsing the internet, were once the fastest growing segment of the mobile industry. The Blackberry, iPhone, and Palm Centro are all popular devices in this category. Both RIM, makers of the Blackberry, more »

Palm quietly unveils, then hides the Treo Pro

Palm does not seem to be doing all that well in keeping the hopefully soon to be released Treo Pro under wraps, aside from the few in-the-wild style images, we also saw Palm unveil a few pages on their own website, of course they were quickly taken down.

Well it seems that it has happened again, this time Palm released two official press images and a short video of the Treo Pro in action was also found. Most of the specs are still not 100% official, but we can tell you that the handset will be running Windows Mobile 6.1 and featuring the one-touch on/off Wi-Fi button, GPS and a flush-sitting 320 x 320 display.
