Google kills off Photovine and other Slide products

Facebook photo scanning rolling out, participation is optional
Facebook started implementing a new tagging feature last year that automatically scans photographs while suggesting the names of people who may be in the picture. Over the next few weeks, Facebook will enable this feature to all of its U.S. users. Facebook will continue rolling out this feature until it has reached users all over the world.
Twitter improves search, confirms official photo uploading feature
Twitter has begun making changes to its website today. Twitter’s search feature has been improved to display more tweets that may matter to you. This feature has also been extended to trending topics as well. Also, the search results will include the top images and videos based on whatever you searched for. For example, Marilyn Monroe is a trending topic today. After clicking on the trending topic link or entering her name into the search box, you’ll see “top images” and “top videos” to the right of the page. You’ll be able to view all the top photos in a separate browser tab.
Photobucket releases Snapbucket for Android and iOS
Snapbucket is a new application for Android and iOS devices that lets you customize pictures you take. It’s a free application for both platforms. However, at the time of this writing, Snapbucket is still awaiting approval from Apple. Snapbucket was created by Photobucket and all of your saved photos will be uploaded to your Photobucket account.
Google updates Picasa to version 3.5 for Windows and Mac
