House of Representatives members ask President Obama to approve AT&T/ T-mobile merger

AT&T is facing stiff competition in the form of the United States Department of Justice as it tries to get its proposed buyout of T-Mobile USA approved. AT&T, Deutsche Telekom and the Department of Justice are scheduled to meet and discuss the merger on September 21. However, 15 Democrats from the House of Representatives are asking President Obama to step in approve the merger quickly.

Patriot Act renewed with an autopen

While we were longing for the weekend to arrive, President Obama was making his rounds in Europe. Since the president was out of the country, he could not physically sign his name on the document that would renew the Patriot Act before it expired. To solve this little problem, the president authorized the use of the autopen, a device that signed the president’s name for him.

YouTube dabbles in live streaming with Presidential news conference

Today, YouTube will be live streaming President Obama’s news conference tonight. It’s been 100 days with President Obama in office, so now it’s time to do a little assessment. The White House YouTube channel will be streaming the video live at 8PM tonight (Eastern time).

YouTube’s first ever live stream was on November 22, 2008 on their YouTube.com/Live site. Who knows how long it will be before they offer live streaming for everyone? Oh, if you don’t want to watch it on YouTube, Hulu is also covering the live stream as is becoming customary.
